The top 70 in the FedEx Cup go to the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis this week. The Wyndham Championship was the last chance to get in, and for all the scenarios, only one place changed hands.
- 105 to 47 Michael Brennan's climb after winning. The only player to move into the top 70
- 69 to 71 Steven Fisk, who missed the cut and dropped out
- 70 Jackson Koivun, who kept the last spot after a closing 71
- 8 The number of points Koivun made it by
- 72 Where Beau Hossler finished, even after coming second
- T67 Brooks Koepka's finish. He needed a top four
- 19 The top 19 places, which didn't change at all
The sweat
Koivun finished before the leaders, so he had to watch. Matt Wallace and Davis Thompson were both still on the course with a chance to finish high enough to push him out. Neither holed the putts they needed. A single bogey could have been enough to knock Koivun out, two months after he left Auburn.
Why second wasn't enough
Hossler shared the 54-hole lead and finished alone in second, and it still left him two places short. Points in the regular season are weighted towards winning. Second place at a standard event is a lot less than the win, and Brennan's win pushed Hossler back as well.
Next is Memphis. Only the top 50 after that event go on to the BMW Championship.
