Final score
USA – Internationals
17–13
Eleven Presidents Cups in a row for the USA.

On Friday morning the USA led 3–2. By Friday night they trailed 7–3. The Internationals won all five foursomes matches, and by Saturday evening the score was 10½–7½. The USA needed 7½ of the 12 points on Sunday just to keep the Cup. They took 9½.

The point that won it came from the player who had done the least all week.

The clincher

Jacob Bridgeman was playing his first Presidents Cup and had lost both his matches. Against Min Woo Lee he was one down with three to play. He won 1 up, and the Cup was kept. A week earlier he had shot 61 to win the Biltmore Championship in Asheville from five behind. He seems to like it from behind.

Friday’s storylines, settled

The Internationals got wins from Tom Kim and Sungjae Im and a half from Nick Taylor. It wasn’t enough.

“It’s a very difficult thing to beat the United States in singles in the US,” said their captain, Geoff Ogilvy. His team is still waiting for a first win on American soil, and a first anywhere since 1998.

The US captain, Brandt Snedeker, said his players “never lost faith.” The rest of his verdict needed asterisks.
