The Solheim Cup starts Friday at Bernardus in the Netherlands. Across the 24 players there are 336 clubs, and the bags are more varied than you might think.
Drivers
| Brand | Players |
|---|---|
| Ping | 7 |
| TaylorMade | 5 |
| Titleist | 5 |
| Callaway | 4 |
| PXG | 3 |
The single most-used driver is the Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond, with four players: Carlota Ciganda, Mimi Rhodes, Andrea Lee and Rose Zhang. Ping has the most players, across four different heads, including the G425 LST from 2021.
Putters
- Odyssey 6 players
- TaylorMade 6
- Ping 5
- Scotty Cameron 5
- L.A.B. Golf 2
There are 20 different putters among 24 players. No model is used by more than two.
The old clubs
Ciganda and Angel Yin both carry Callaway fairway woods that are more than four years old. Nelly Korda, the world No. 1, still has a TaylorMade Stealth 2 3-wood alongside her new Qi4D driver.
The lesson for the rest of us: the best players replace clubs when something better turns up for them, not when a new model comes out.
