Wyndham Clark started Sunday at Bellerive five shots clear. By the middle of the round, it was gone. He still won the BMW Championship by three.
How the lead went
Clark bogeyed the first for the second day running and was two over through seven. Rory McIlroy, playing alongside him with the crowd firmly behind him, shared the lead with a birdie at the 11th after Clark bogeyed the 10th. Patrick Cantlay had a share for a moment too. Gary Woodland got within one before topping his tee shot into the creek at the ninth and making double bogey.
How he won it back
Clark's putter woke up at the right time. He holed a 20-foot birdie at the 16th and another at the 17th, finishing with an even-par 70 and 17 under. Cantlay birdied his last three to take second on 14 under. McIlroy bogeyed the par-5 17th and finished alone in third on 13 under.
